Our 9 Design Approach
There are 9 basic elements that we incorporate into every design:
Contrast
Adds that “pop” of color, variation of contrast from one element to another into the project making various elements stand out. This is also an essential element when creating accessible designs, especially for the visually-impaired.
Balance
Designing with the visual weights of elements to create an even distribution of weight, creating symmetry that the eye loves while enhancing the balance with other details of the design.
Pattern
Repetition of multiple design elements throughout the space creating a flow from one area to another.
Proportion
Highlighting elements in relation to one another creating a hierarchy of importance based on size and scale.
Rhythm
Awareness of all types of rhythms that add visual interest while repeating elements to create a cohesive design.
Repetition
Enforcing the concepts to create unifications that bring elements together to enhance the visual experience.
White Space
Targeting specific areas of the design that are essentially negative spaces, left empty to allow the eye to rest and other elements of the design to breathe. Also allows for specific parts of the design to be highlighted.
Movement
Positioning elements of the design so that the eye follows and travels throughout the design from one element to another.
Unity
Creating relationships with elements within the design so that concepts are communicated and working together in a cohesive manner.
